Alan Hineline

Born in Franklin, Ohio, New York–based choreographer Alan
Hineline spent the majority of his dancing career as a freelance artist. In 1995, after creating numerous roles in a
broad ranage of styles, Mr. Hineline began creating his own work. Since that time, he has received a steady series of
commissions, awards and a growing reputation for his modern approach in developing his classically oriented works. In
1997, at the invitation of artistic director Marcia Dale Weary, Hineline was named resident choreographer for the Central
Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Since that time, he has created numerous ballets for this internationally acclaimed young
company. Works of his are in the repertoires of the Pennsylvania Ballet, American Ballet Theatre Studio Company, Atlanta
Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Sarasota Ballet, Alabama Ballet, Ballet Concierto de Cuba, Dances…Patrelle,
Berkshire Ballet, Columbus Dance Theatre, Utah Regional Ballet and a host of companies in the Regional Dance America organization.
His works have been performed at the 1996 New York International Ballet Competition, the 1997 Aoyanna International Ballet
Festival in Tokyo, Japan and the 1998 and 2002 International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi. In 2002 the
Choo-San Goh and H. Robert Magee Foundation awarded Mr. Hineline the Choo-San Goh for Choreography; Regional Dance America
has presented him with an unprecedented eight National Choreography Awards. He has been listed in Who’s Who in
American Music, and was a recipient of the Louis Armstrong Award for Instrumental Music.
Mr. Hineline is the founder and director of the Central
Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s Choreographic Initiative, Choreoplan. For the
RDA organization he has served as an adjudicator for several regions, as artistic director and director of choreography for
the RDA Craft of Choreography Conference and as a faculty member at numerous RDA festivals.
A guest teacher throughout the world, Mr. Hineline is on the faculty of Ballet Academy East in NYC and the Central
Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Mr. Hineline was also a faculty member for the 2002
Jackson International Ballet Competitions.
