The Miller Marley Youth Ballet was founded in 1997
as a non-profit ballet company comprised of talented and dedicated young dancers. The company’s focus is on excellence
in training and developing a professional performance atmosphere for the dancers. It has been the goal of Alecia Good
to promote the art of dance through education and community performances. The company is made up of 22 dancers ranging
in age from 12 to 16, who study under the directorship of Good, as well as instructors from the Kansas City Ballet.
The company presents two major performances each season showcasing many original works by local and national choreographers,
as well as emerging artists. The Youth Ballet has had a very successful 8 year run, with many performances being sold-out.
Last spring the company debuted it’s first full length ballet, “Sleeping Beauty” with a cast of 79 dancers
from the Miller Marley School. The Miller Marley Youth Ballet has enjoyed being a member of RDA for three years.
This June, 12 dancers will travel to Austria for two weeks of performing with the Tanzsommer Festival.
